Interested in having a curated capsule wardrobe that makes getting dressed effortless? Let me help you achieve your goal!
Building a capsule wardrobe can help with saving money, as by focusing on certain colours or items, it limits impulse buys. It also makes putting polished outfits together easier as each item coordinates with the other ones in the capsule wardrobe.
A curated capsule wardrobe doesn’t have to be basic or boring though! It can be made of versatile pieces, complemented with more statement items that represent your personal style and work with your lifestyle. And of course, sustainable items come together in a wardrobe that reflects your values.

Best capsule wardrobe brands
People Tree
People Tree is great for quality pieces in earthy, natural colours, as well as classic neutrals, such as black and navy. They are a pioneer of Fair Trade fashion, so you can trust that your capsule wardrobe is built on an ethical foundation. They also have a whole range of PETA-certified vegan items!
Spanx
Spanx is well-known for a reason. They have great shapewear, but they also do leggings, bodysuits and more, that could provide a great starting point for your capsule wardrobe.
I sent them an email to check their items were vegan-friendly, and they replied this:
Yes, we could say that all of our products are vegan-friendly because they are cruelty-free. None of our products were tested on animals.
A bit mysterious, but I’m going to assume the best on this one! If you’re not in the US or Canada, I’d still recommend checking out their website and then Googling the item you’re interested in to see where else you could buy it from. For instance you can get their iconic faux leather leggings from Amazon in the UK.
Will’s Vegan Store
Will’s Vegan Store should definitely be the go-to place for starting a vegan capsule wardrobe. They have lots of great neutral shoes and jackets. I recently bought their aviator jacket and I love it – it’s super warm (you can watch me unwrap it here).
Curated wardrobe essentials
Here’s an overview of the clothes featured in my free mini vegan capsule wardrobe. What types of clothes you want to include in your curated capsule wardrobe will be based on your lifestyle and taste, but they can still fit in the broad categories below.
Please note that you might need more than one of each item; the mini vegan capsule wardrobe is designed as a starter kit, to build on throughout the seasons.

I’ve broken down each item of clothing below – the first one is always the one featured in the mini vegan capsule wardrobe and the second is an alternative option.
A plain top
When I say “plain” here, I mean monochromatic. You don’t have to necessarily go black or white, you could also choose something in navy or another neutral. Or hey, if you like big bold colours, choose those instead. The main thing to remember is that this top is supposed to be a supporting act for other patterned or textured pieces, not steal the show.
A patterned top
I went casual in this example with the striped top. But if you had a corporate job that you have to dress for five days out of seven, then you might want to incorporate a beautiful patterned blouse instead.
A bodysuit
Now this is a secret weapon that I am adding to my arsenal this year. Bodysuits allow for seamless layering under skirts, jeans and even dresses. You can then throw an interesting cardigan or jacket on top and boom -effortless elegant style.
A cardigan
I have to confess that I own a few too many cardigans… But a lot of mine are quite thin and small. What I’m recommending here is a chunky cardigan to layer on top of an outfit, so that the texture adds interest and cosiness.
A classy jumper
I added the word “classy” here because I’m not talking about ratty old sweatshirts. This is a jumper that you would be proud to be seen out and about in. The ones I chose are quite bold, but feel free to choose something more subdued if that matches your style better.
A versatile jacket
I’ve included a moto jacket here (made with vegan leather of course!), but depending on your lifestyle, you could also have a denim jacket or a well-fitting blazer. The key is that it carries you through several seasons and looks good with most outfits.
A flattering skirt
“Flattering” looks different on different people. But for my body shape (and many others I believe!), an A-line skirt creates a desirable hourglass shape, while also being easy to move in. But hey, if you want to rock a pencil skirt, you do you! (And please report back and explain to me *how*…)
A neutral pair of jeans
What is a neutral pair of jeans? Aren’t all jeans neutral? Well no my friend! We’ll skip over the ones with bold cut-outs and colourful embroidery (though I do like embroidery!).
What I’m talking about is neutral in colour. If like me, you live somewhere where it gets cold and you can’t live in sandals all year, I’d recommend first getting a dark blue pair of jeans for your curated capsule wardrobe. You can always add more pairs later, but dark blue won’t look jarring with black like a pale denim would.
Neutral trousers or leggings
Ah corporate friends, I feel for you! If you work a 9-to-5 that involves going into the office and looking put-together, then you could benefit from one or more pairs of neutral trousers.
If like me, you’re living the dream of working from home, then enjoy the comfort of leggings! Sidenote: because they are shapewear, Spanx leggings tend to be more flattering, but also less comfortable than other leggings. So good for running errands when you might run into someone you want to impress, less good for having a nap in.
Capsule wardrobe kits
I don’t think you can buy a pre-made capsule wardrobe with all vegan clothes, so my mini vegan capsule wardrobe is probably as close as you’ll get to a ready-to-buy capsule wardrobe.
- 9 clothes + 9 accessories: to wear items that reflect your values!
- 7 example outfits: Look and feel put-together with a week’s worth of outfits
I used to create bigger seasonal capsule wardrobes and… drumroll… I’m bringing them back! If you sign up for the mini vegan capsule wardrobe, you’ll be the first to know when the next seasonal capsule is available!
