My 2019 early autumn / back to university wishlist

Are you a student heading back to university? Or do you just love stationery and this back-to-school period? Well here’s your excuse to indulge in some (window) shopping!

As a PhD student, I don’t go “back to university” as such because we don’t get the summers off (boo!). But I have just made my way back from fieldwork in Brazil and I feel like indulging in a bit of back to school shopping!

Please note that the following items I’ve rounded up are aspirational: I’m planning on buying a few but definitely not all of them! And you definitely don’t need anything fancy to succeed in your studies. Anyhoo, I’ve grouped my back-to-university wishlist into three categories: stationery, bags and style / beauty products.

(Note: this post contains affiliate links. I only recommend products that I like and either currently use or would use. If you make a purchase, you support this blog: I may earn a commission at no cost to you.)

Stationery & decor

Whether you’re actually heading back to university, incorporating journaling into your morning routine or taking up drawing as a hobby… There’s always an excuse to indulge in some extra stationery!

  1. Eco A4 notebook;
  2. Positivity potion & stress relief brew mug set;
  3. LEUCHTTURM1917 dotted A5 notebook;
  4. Pastel Tombow pens;
  5. Chalkboard & cork board organiser;
  6. Black gel ink pens;
  7. 90 colour pencil “dictionary”;
  8. Geometric “Noteworthy” journal;
  9. Vegan leather sketchbook.

Back to university bags

As I said in the intro, this wishlist is aspirational – I’m not planning on buying all of these bags! If you could have just one, which one would you choose? Share in the comments below!

  1. Indigo vegan leather messenger bag;
  2. North Face green backpack;
  3. The Great Wave canvas bag;
  4. White tassel tote bag;
  5. Basket bag;
  6. Grey suedette bamboo bag;
  7. Van Gogh canvas bag;
  8. Tropical bamboo tote bag;
  9. Indigo vegan leather backpack.

Style / beauty

Will having a nice new outfit directly improve your grades? Probably not. But will feeling put-together and confident lift your mood and make you more productive? It’s worth a try!

  1. New York jumper;
  2. Cherry pie necklace;
  3. Navy wellies;
  4. Dark pink check scarf;
  5. Hydration conditioner;
  6. Denim jacket;
  7. Fair Isle apple jumper;
  8. Black vegan leather boots (these are quite pricey – if you find a cheaper lookalike, please do tell me!);
  9. Orly Dreamscape nail polish collection.

To be fully transparent, I've been on the vegan train for the past 8 years, but I had animal products while on holiday recently. Still committed to the vegan lifestyle though! The objective is progress, not perfection. 😊 #NoVeganPoliceHere 😉

“I could never give up meat”… How many times “I could never give up meat”… How many times have we heard that? Or said it ourselves? 🤔

The foods we are used to can have a very strong emotional bond, even though they’re not always the best for us. Plant-based eating is better for our health and the planet (and of course the animals!), but I can understand having cravings for foods we have enjoyed for a lot of our lives - "even I" had some animal products while on holiday recently. 😬

In the blog post, for each dinner, I’ll offer two options. One is the 100% vegan option and one is the one to use if you’re taking baby steps towards eating less meat. Find them by following the link in my bio! 😘
