As much as vegan food, and even vegan fashion, are hitting the mainstream, it’s still a struggle to find vegan furniture brands. But if you, like me, are searching for a beautiful vegan sofa bed, I’ve got you covered!
Vegan sofa beds are made of fabric (e.g. linen), plastic-based leather alternatives (e.g. polyurethane leather) or innovative plant-based leathers (e.g. Piñatex). And they serve double duty as a place to sit, and a bed to sleep on, which is ideal if you don’t have a guest room.
We’re in the market for one of these too (read until the end for our first choice)… Let’s explore the options together!

UK vegan sofa beds
Floor sofa beds
If your home leans more contemporary than classic – or a bit 70s – these floor sofas might fit your aesthetic. They come in quite a few colour and texture variations, you can find them all here!
Please note that I have gone through the descriptions and even though they don’t mention any animal products, they don’t explicitly say they’re vegan either. So if you want to be 100% sure before buying, you might want to email Urban Outfitters to ask if they’re entirely vegan-friendly.
Space-saving sofa beds
These two sofa beds come in at significantly less than 2 metres wide, so they’re ideal for small living spaces. Or maybe in a corner of your office if it’s big enough (ours is tiny so not so much haha).
These don’t have any explicit animal products in their composition, but if you want to be 100% sure they’re vegan-friendly, it’s always best to contact the supplier.
Classic sofa beds
Here are three sofa beds that would complement a classic or transitional home.
Funky Futons
I found a company called Funky Futons that have a range explicitly labelled as vegan-friendly. Now if you’ve been reading my vegan home posts for a while, you’ll know how rare this is! Unfortunately, their photos aren’t very flattering, but hopefully you can give them the benefit of the doubt.
US vegan sofa beds
Affordable sofa beds
As a non-American, I’d like to ask: is there anything Walmart doesn’t sell?? Anyhoo, the first sofa is super affordable ($399 at the time of writing!!) and looks significantly more expensive than that. Great if you’re looking for a glamourous feminine space.
The vegan leather sofa bed comes with USB ports, ideal for overnight guests. I couldn’t see what it was made of though, so better worth checking it’s not PVC (see a breakdown of which leathers are healthiest and most sustainable here). Add a couple of these cushions and you’ve got a beautiful rustic corner.
Eco-friendly sofa beds
This is what Medley have to say about their sofa beds:
One of the hardest things about shopping for a sofa bed is finding one that doesn’t look like a sofa bed in the first place. We’ve got you covered. Just pick your fav and fill in the details—filling, mattress, wood, and fabric choice—and you’ll have the perfect guest-ready space in disguise. Our sleeper sofas are beautiful, comfy and durable: each comes with a domestically-sourced alder hardwood frame backed by a lifetime guarantee, so you (and your guests) can sleep easy.
I’ve got to agree with the first sentence! So here are a couple of my favourites, but just bear in mind that this brand seems vegan-friendly as long as you choose vegan-friendly materials during the customisation of the sofa (e.g. avoiding down and wool filling). The customisation options are a bit crazy actually, there are so many colours available!
Australian vegan sofa beds
Hi lovely Australians! I only found one brand of sofa beds to share here for now, but feel free to drop your suggestions in the comments!
I love Koala’s aesthetic and that they’re a B Corp. I’ve shared a couple of their sofa beds below, but you might want to take advantage of their Sleepover’s Sorted Bundle deal to get pillows and covers at a reduced price.
This post was all about vegan sofa bed options
Which one was your favourite? Tell me in the comments! Beyond vegan sofa beds, if you’re more generally looking for sustainable vegan furniture for your living room, I’ve got you covered! Check out:
(I don’t know why both lists have 11 sofas in them… wasn’t planned!)
Anyhoo, if you’ve read all the way until here… Drumroll please… This is the sofa bed we’re planning on getting for our home! It used to be available in a beautiful teal colour called “jade” though and I can’t seem to find it now.
