The work-from-home capsule wardrobe for winter 2020-2021 is here!

Hello beautiful people! I’ve been working on the work-from-home capsule wardrobe for winter 2020-2021 for a while now and I’m happy to see that it’s now here! Cue fireworks and party sounds! Do you want to simplify your life and feel amazing in your clothes? If that’s a yes and a yes, then read on!

Why have a capsule wardrobe when working from home?

You might be wondering a) what is a capsule wardrobe and b) why would anyone working from home need one? I’ll get to a) in a second, but let me address b) right now. I don’t know where you are in the world, but here in the United Kingdom, we’ve been on and off with lockdown restrictions since March. Add to that situation that I have a little person with set naps and feeding times…. And I essentially haven’t been going out a whole lot.

If I had more energy, I would ________________.

Fast forward a few months and I find myself in a repetitive loop of comfortable outfits. Now, don’t get me wrong, comfortable is great (and all 100 outfits in the capsule wardrobe were put together with comfort in mind)! But wearing grey “tracky bottoms” and an old T-shirt doesn’t exactly make me feel put-together or full of energy to tackle my goals!

And there were a couple wake-up calls when for example my in-laws popped in to pick up Baby J and I just felt “ugh” about my appearance. Of course, if you’re happy in “loungewear”, then you do you, skip this whole post and read something else! But if you’re like me, you might want to mix things up a bit and feel amazing in your skin again. You also probably don’t have all day to think about your clothes, hence coming up with a simple system: my winter 2020-2021 capsule wardrobe!

The work-from-home winter capsule wardrobe for winter 2020-2021 is here!

What is in the winter 2020-2021 capsule wardrobe?

So what is a capsule wardrobe? A capsule wardrobe is a curated selection of clothes and accessories that all work well together. It makes getting ready much easier and eliminates the “I have nothing to wear” crisis that happens when we have overflowing wardrobes (guilty!). The focus is on quality, not quantity. What I am trying to achieve with this capsule wardrobe is also a focus on timeless pieces rather than the short-lived trends of fast fashion.

Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

    Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

While I don’t believe in “perfection” as such, I do believe that many of us (myself included!) could benefit from more simplicity in their lives right now. Whatever your situation is, I hope you will find a sense of calm from being able to easily look put-together and also some pleasure from these new outfit ideas!

The work-from-home winter capsule 2020-2021 is here!

This work-from-home capsule wardrobe includes 22 items of clothing + 3 pairs of shoes + 4 bags + 8 accessories. However, I’m not encouraging you to either throw all your other clothes out or to go on a crazy shopping spree. The idea is to go through the clothes and accessories (pages 11-15) and see which capsule wardrobe items you already own. I bet there are several things that you have in one form or another. You might already have a pair of jeans or some shoes that you love.

The idea is to bring those things together, with maybe a few new items (that I offer suggestions for) into a curated collection of clothes and accessories. This work-from-home capsule wardrobe has a gorgeous colour scheme (even if I do say so myself), inspired by the best of winter: fresh pine, berry tones, tartans and a touch of festive shimmer. The colour scheme brings all the items together and means that they all work with each other. So even if you skipped the outfits section altogether, you’d still vastly simplify getting dressed every day!

Loving getting dressed every day: 100 outfits

Now, you could stop at having a curated wardrobe of clothes that work together, but in this capsule wardrobe, I’ve also included 100 outfit ideas! So whether you plan your outfits for the week, set them out the night before or pick something in the morning, I’ve got you covered! No more sweatpants on repeat, instead there are 100 outfit ideas so that you feel and look fabulous every day.

If you’ve seen my Pinterest, you’ll know that I’m no stranger to “swiping” inspiration from fashion blogs or street style photos. But having all my outfits ready and in one spot has been a game-changer! It makes getting dressed fun and I love the variety of looks day-to-day. I can then also focus my (finite!) decision-making energy on my needle-moving tasks, such as building my business.

I work from home five days a week and I refuse to wear sweatpants or pyjamas (leggings are fine though in my book!). Call it snobbery if you wish, but I do feel much better about myself and more productive when I take a couple minutes to pick an outfit that is more polished than sloppy. I've rounded up seven outfit ideas, one for each day of the week, that you can adopt and adapt to help you feel put-together this month!A week’s worth of work-from-home outfits (February edition)

I've been experimenting with smoothies for a while I've been experimenting with smoothies for a while and I've finally found the magic formula... 👇

So here it is:
🫘 Half a can of butter beans, drained and rinsed (trust me you can't taste them, but they're oh so good for you)
🫐 Half a cup of frozen berries (doesn't matter what type, but choose organic if you can)
🍌 A ripe banana
🥬 A good handful of leafy greens (spinach, etc.)
🥄 A tablespoon of ground flaxseed
(🥜 Optional: a tablespoon of peanut butter - if you want it creamier or are trying to get more calories in)
🫗 A cup of water (about 250 mL) - feel free to experiment with this last one until you get the consistency you like

I came up with this because I couldn't find a protein powder that I liked and that didn't make the texture go all wrong... 🤢

Also because I believe whole foods are the way to go! 🌱 ... Well about 80% of the time. 😉

I make mine two at a time in my @nutribullet as it comes with two cups - that way tomorrow's breakfast is covered! 💡

If you've read this far, make sure you follow me for more quick plant-based breakfast ideas (coming tomorrow)! And have a lovely day. 😘

How's beating yourself up been working for you? 🤔 Here's an alternative. 👇

Focus on what you already have and who you already are. Because:
1️⃣ It simply feels better than focusing on our shortcomings or how "we're not there yet".
2️⃣ It will help you attract more good things. Just like people who complain all the time keep attracting "bad luck", people who focus on gratitude find more opportunities.
3️⃣ Your glowing gratitude will attract people to you that will help you move towards your best life.

I know I have a tendency to always focus on the next goal and the next and the next... But sometimes you need to slow down (and smell the roses 🌹) to speed up. ✨

💃🏼 My name's Jessica and I'm 32 (how do I start this without sounding awkward? 😅)

👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 I have two little boys and I work as a green spaces development officer in Oxford in the UK.

🌱 I've been vegan for more than 7 years now, so I'm using Instagram and my blog (jessicagoodenough.com) to share vegan food, home and fashion tips.

💖 I do my best to be welcoming to people no matter how un-vegan (that's a word? 🤷🏼‍♀️😅) they are, because no one likes an angry vegan. 😉

📝 I'm also into personal development, mindset and all that jazz (well not actually jazz, I'm more into country haha 🤠).

🤔 I'm a questioner and like researching and planning things (go to @gretchenrubin's website, do her four tendencies quiz and come back here to tell me which one you are!). 🤓

Back to you! Tell me:
A. Where you're based right now (obviously don't share your full address)!
B. The last TV series you loved
C. And/or the last book you couldn't put down
... And then I'll share mine! 😊
