Hello beautiful people! I’ve been working on the work-from-home capsule wardrobe for winter 2020-2021 for a while now and I’m happy to see that it’s now here! Cue fireworks and party sounds! Do you want to simplify your life and feel amazing in your clothes? If that’s a yes and a yes, then read on!
Why have a capsule wardrobe when working from home?
You might be wondering a) what is a capsule wardrobe and b) why would anyone working from home need one? I’ll get to a) in a second, but let me address b) right now. I don’t know where you are in the world, but here in the United Kingdom, we’ve been on and off with lockdown restrictions since March. Add to that situation that I have a little person with set naps and feeding times…. And I essentially haven’t been going out a whole lot.
Fast forward a few months and I find myself in a repetitive loop of comfortable outfits. Now, don’t get me wrong, comfortable is great (and all 100 outfits in the capsule wardrobe were put together with comfort in mind)! But wearing grey “tracky bottoms” and an old T-shirt doesn’t exactly make me feel put-together or full of energy to tackle my goals!
And there were a couple wake-up calls when for example my in-laws popped in to pick up Baby J and I just felt “ugh” about my appearance. Of course, if you’re happy in “loungewear”, then you do you, skip this whole post and read something else! But if you’re like me, you might want to mix things up a bit and feel amazing in your skin again. You also probably don’t have all day to think about your clothes, hence coming up with a simple system: my winter 2020-2021 capsule wardrobe!

What is in the winter 2020-2021 capsule wardrobe?
So what is a capsule wardrobe? A capsule wardrobe is a curated selection of clothes and accessories that all work well together. It makes getting ready much easier and eliminates the “I have nothing to wear” crisis that happens when we have overflowing wardrobes (guilty!). The focus is on quality, not quantity. What I am trying to achieve with this capsule wardrobe is also a focus on timeless pieces rather than the short-lived trends of fast fashion.
Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
While I don’t believe in “perfection” as such, I do believe that many of us (myself included!) could benefit from more simplicity in their lives right now. Whatever your situation is, I hope you will find a sense of calm from being able to easily look put-together and also some pleasure from these new outfit ideas!

This work-from-home capsule wardrobe includes 22 items of clothing + 3 pairs of shoes + 4 bags + 8 accessories. However, I’m not encouraging you to either throw all your other clothes out or to go on a crazy shopping spree. The idea is to go through the clothes and accessories (pages 11-15) and see which capsule wardrobe items you already own. I bet there are several things that you have in one form or another. You might already have a pair of jeans or some shoes that you love.
The idea is to bring those things together, with maybe a few new items (that I offer suggestions for) into a curated collection of clothes and accessories. This work-from-home capsule wardrobe has a gorgeous colour scheme (even if I do say so myself), inspired by the best of winter: fresh pine, berry tones, tartans and a touch of festive shimmer. The colour scheme brings all the items together and means that they all work with each other. So even if you skipped the outfits section altogether, you’d still vastly simplify getting dressed every day!
Loving getting dressed every day: 100 outfits
Now, you could stop at having a curated wardrobe of clothes that work together, but in this capsule wardrobe, I’ve also included 100 outfit ideas! So whether you plan your outfits for the week, set them out the night before or pick something in the morning, I’ve got you covered! No more sweatpants on repeat, instead there are 100 outfit ideas so that you feel and look fabulous every day.
If you’ve seen my Pinterest, you’ll know that I’m no stranger to “swiping” inspiration from fashion blogs or street style photos. But having all my outfits ready and in one spot has been a game-changer! It makes getting dressed fun and I love the variety of looks day-to-day. I can then also focus my (finite!) decision-making energy on my needle-moving tasks, such as building my business.
